These 8-bit latches feature 3-state outputsdesigned specifically for driving highly capacitiveor relatively low-impedance loads. The devicesare particularly suitable for implementing bufferregisters, I/O ports, bidirectional bus drivers, andworking registers.The eight latches are D-type transparent latches.When the latch-enable (LE) input is high, the Qoutputs follow the data (D) inputs. When LE istaken low, the Q outputs are latched at the logiclevels set up at the D inputs.lowlogic(high orlevels) orA buffered output-enable (OE) input can be usedto place the eight outputs in either a normal logicthestatehigh-impedance state. In the high-impedancestate, the outputs neither load nor drive the buslines significantly. The high-impedance state andincreased drive provide the capability to drive buslines in a bus-organized system without need forinterface or pullup components.
