The single-channel, 6N138M, 6N139M and dual-channelHCPL2730M, HCPL2731M optocouplers consist of anAlGaAs LED optically coupled to a high gain split darling-ton photodetector.The split darlington configuration separating the inputphotodiode and the first stage gain from the output tran-sistor permits lower output saturation voltage and higherspeed operation than possible with conventional darling-ton phototransistor optocoupler. In the dual channeldevices, HCPL2730M and HCPL2731M, an integratedemitter-base resistor provides superior stability over tem-perature.The combination of a very low input current of 0.5 mAand a high current transfer ratio of 2000% makes thisfamily particularly useful for input interface to MOS,CMOS, LSTTL and EIA RS232C, while output compati-bility is ensured to CMOS as well as high fan-out TTLrequirements. An internal noise shield provides excep-tional common mode rejection of 10 kV/μs.
